SWAN Intensive Media Training, April 16, 2013, Washington DC
The Media Training Intensive at Truth and Justice: The 2013 Summit on Military Sexual Violence will take place before ths summit and is co-sponsored by SWAN and the Women’s Media Center.
The SWAN Intensive Media Training is a one-day comprehensive training that will prepare you to confidently present your “story” to the media. You can purchase tickets online with a visa or mastercard using our secure checkout here.This experience will include practice with crafting messages, taking control of an interview, learning how to say “no” and re-direct the content of an interview, minimizing anxiety/stress/re-triggering related to what you share and how you share it, and effectively and authentically communicating information in television, radio, print or blog interviews. This training will be presented and led by leading media experts, and will be demanding, rigorous and challenging. SWAN will be funding travel and accommodations in addition to the training. If you apply and are admitted, you must commit to attending and completing the one-day training on April 16, in addition to attending the two-day Summit on Military Sexual Violence on April 17-18.
Only 10 people will be accepted for the Intensive Media Training. Service members, veterans, and family members who have experienced/witnessed military sexual assault, sexual harassment or domestic violence are eligible to apply. Both women and men are welcome to apply. Completing this training does not guarantee that SWAN will be able to set up interviews for you at the Summit.
